Time has flown— five incredible years of research and collaboration have passed! This week, the LongITools Consortium gathered in Gothenburg for our final meeting, packed with insightful scientific presentations, a stakeholder workshop, discussions on publications, and the latest research findings.
About LongITools
LongITools is a European research project investigating how environmental and lifestyle factors influence the risk of chronic cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
From our perspective:
- Karim Lekadir presented the FUTURE-AI guidelines for trustworthy AI in healthcare.
- Noussair Lazrak delivered two presentations on the progress in WP2 focusing on exposome data analysis toolbox & WP7, focusing on cross-cohort external validation for cardiovascular risk prediction models.
Major highlights of the past months include:
🔹 Our team at UB developed a risk prediction model to estimate the 10-year likelihood of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD) or type 2 diabetes. This model is now available through the LongITools App, developed by ABACUS. A publication detailing the model’s development, metrics, and fairness is available: ScienceDirect Article
🔹 We also contributed to the creation of an Exposome Data Analysis Toolbox, a collaborative effort across multiple work packages. This user-friendly, cloud-based tool empowers researchers to perform advanced exposome data analyses—without needing technical expertise or high-performance computing resources. The toolbox can be accessed: Exposome Toolbox
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to LongITools over the years!
