Posted on: 2 December 2024

On October 17th and 18th 2024, the DataTools4Heart (DT4H) project consortium gathered at Amsterdam UMC, in the Netherlands, for its midterm Consortium Meeting. The event brought together all project partners to assess progress, address challenges, and plan the next steps and development of the project.

The first day was opened with an overview of DT4H advancements, along with a discussion on expectations and recommendations received from EU expert reviewers. The project’s team then moved into in-depth sessions, covering clinical use cases and the integration of DT4H components, in particular updates on data preparation and AI researcher user flow. The second day showcased a keynote from HealthSage AI, along with sessions on multilingual clinical text datasets, the SMART cardiovascular risk score, and the use of synthetic data.

Two sessions, opened to external participants, were held during the meeting, focusing on “New Perspectives in Health and Medical Research Sector: the European Health Data Space (EHDS)” and “Ethics and Trustworthy AI”. The first session explored the future of health data sharing and its transformative potential across Europe while the second one delved in the complex ethical framework for the creation of responsible and robust AI systems in healthcare.

As the project enters its third year, the consortium is expecting to share its first results soon. The next phase promises to bring exciting developments!
