Our projects at European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2025
Posted on: 4 March 2025
At ECR2025, the leading congress for radiologists, Karim Lekadir, Jamilia Arykbaeva, and Lidia Garrucho Moras represented Artificial Intelligence in Medicine Lab (BCN-AIM), showcasing three pioneering projects shaping the future of AI in medical imaging:
• EuCanImage Talk by Karim Lekadir– He presented the outcomes of EuCanImage, which connects imaging archives to enable access to 24K annotated cases across three cancer types—a groundbreaking result in data-driven oncology!
Workshop by EuCanImage – In this interactive session, the participants could run an in-silico trial, testing automatic segmentation models on three use cases (breast cancer on MRI, liver HCC on MRI, liver metastases on CT) and compare it with manual segmentations made by radiologists. They learned how to leverage both imaging and non-imaging clinical data to advance personalized healthcare and research methodologies. Want to know more about EuCanImage? Visit their website.
• FUTUREAI Talk by Karim Lekadir– He talked about how FUTURE-AI is setting the standard for trustworthy, ethical AI in healthcare and explaining the recently published guidelines to translate AI principles into real-world clinical applications. (Lekadir et al., 2025, BMJ article: here)
Talk by Karim Lekadir – He highlighted hashtag#RadioVal’s efforts in advancing trustworthy AI for breast cancer imaging, aligning with the FUTURE-AI guidelines to ensure responsible innovation and traceability in AI-driven healthcare.
